    1. Another wonderful romance from B Freethy. I Loved the characters especially Gabe and Alicia and the secondary characters Jared and Kelly. It was romantic, the plot had its interesting twists and it was Laugh out loud funny at times. If u like this author do not hesitate you will like this one. Makes me want to reread my Angel Bay series.

    2. Author: Barbara FreethyFirst published: 2012Length: 373 pages, 4462 kindle locationsSetting: Contemporary. River Rock, California.Sex: Explicit-ish. Infrequent.Hero: MarineHeroine: River GuideThe town is full of a$$holes. Her best friend is a b$tch. Her boyfriend has no clue and doesn’t really care about her.And while she’s dating him, she gets together with Gabe…I *like* Alicia and Gabe. I enjoy their story. But I loathe the background characters and can’t work out why she has put up with [...]

    3. I liked it. Not the best of her work but it had exciting moments and I still didn't figure out whodunit before the reveal.

    4. A heartwarming tale, which I actually rated 4.5. Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies:The past year has been rough for Alicia, a single mom of a nine-year-old son, Justin, and her family. Her twin brother Rob had gone into the Marines, but she lost him a few weeks ago when he had been killed in the line of duty. Living with her father, she helped him run the family whitewater rafting business. But six months ago, there had been a tragic accident. She and her father had taken a group of men out [...]

    5. This is the story of Alicia who is recovering from a terrible series of events. Her families rafting business is trying to recover from a terrible accident and her best friends' fiancee dies. This causes a major division between families involved and the town has taken up sides with this other family. Also Alicia's twin brother Rob, a marine is killed in action. His best friend Rob who was in the Marines with him shows up and says that Rob had given his house to him. Alicia is not happy to see h [...]

    6. I was pretty upset with Kelly, though actually her feelings are understandable. She lost her fiancee in a dangerous rafting, and there were rumors saying that Alicia was to blame, that the equipment was not decent. The disappointing part was she didn't give Alicia a chance to at least talk to her. She believed the rumors and thought the worst of her ex-best friend. She moved out of town and didn't even went home to attend Rob's, Alicia's brother, funeral. She finally got out of his grief after s [...]

    7. This won a RITA in 2013 so I wanted to read it. For those that don't know, I buy romance for my library's collection. I tend to buy what I like, which is mostly contemporary and Regency. It's also what our patrons are drawn to. Most paranormal and urban futuristic stuff doesn't circulate so it's lucky that I can buy what I like! I thought this was a nice story but can't really see why it won an award. The pacing is slow, the main character is not always very likeable. In fact, the romance betwee [...]

    8. Awwww I want a Gabe! A burly soldier who had a one night fling with his best friend Rob's twin sister Alicia, returns after the his tour in Afghanistan is done. I loved the tense relationship between Gabe and Alicia, the past with Gabe is still a bitter subject for Alicia considering she was/is in love with him. Gabe is very protective of Alicia which I love, I also loved the way Alicia fought against her own feelings and pretending she didn't care for him, i think it related to real life love s [...]

    9. This was the last book of Barbara's that I had to read. I am anxiously waiting for her next book which will come out in July. This was another book that I couldn't put down and absolutely loved! I love how Gabe stood by his promise and you saw the love he had for Alicia and for her son. Again when you think you have the mystery solved Barbara throws you off. Another must read for anyone that loves romance and mystery. :)

    10. This is a quick and enjoyable book. Alicia and Gabe are at odds with one another because of their past, but have to work together to try to get the business back in shape. While doing this, there is someone against them, bringing them closer to one another. For those who like romance, this book has it (Alicia and Gabe), and for those who like a mystery (Alicia's son and best friend come up missing), it has that too!I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

    11. Reading the RitasI wanted to like this - it's a Rita winner, after all. But it fell flat for me. In the first chapter Alicia attacks Gabe for her brother's death, which decreases her likability. The whole town blames her for another guy's death - you'd think she'd let Gabe tell his side of the story. Plus it seems like the same information is shared numerous times. Fortunately the pace and tension pick up in the final third, bringing the story to a satisfying conclusion.

    12. Wonderful book!!! This is a quick, easy read that is chock full of everything that makes a great story. The characters seem real and I can imagine being friends with most of them. There is also a lot of love, drama, and intrigue. The story kept moving forward at just the right pace and I was surprised by who the "antagonist" turned out to be. Give this one a chance; you'll be so glad you did.

    13. I loved this story, it had the suspense and the romance. I loved Gabe and respect all he had been through. It was great to see he and Alicia finally hook up. Barbara always writes a great book but she is killing me as I can't put it down and get nothing done. If you love Barbara you need to read this book

    14. I find it difficult to read books where the main characters are really judgmental with a highschoolish mien. She blames Gabe for her brother's death, in front of her son even, with no thought to how he must be feeling. ironically, her ex-best friend apparently does exactly the same thing to her over the death of her fiancé. I couldn't read the book.

    15. Ive been so distracted at home and work, I havent completely finished a book in months! This was incredible and I couldnt wait to get to the ending. Im so glad to have discovered a new author - I cant wait to read another one of her stories. This book reminded me of Nichols Sparks' style of writing.

    16. This was a good easy read romance. Alicia and her dad own a river running company, but had an accident that killed her best friends fiance so now the town is against her opening again the next summer. Her brother has been killed at war and his good friend promises him that he will come back and help take care of his family.

    17. I really enjoyed this book. Had a great story line that really moved along. The characters were strong and well defined. A story of love of country, family and each other. I was totally surprised at the "who dunnit" at the end. A great little romantic book. Do not need to read the other books associated with this one.

    18. I love reading my favorite authors, knowing that they never dissapoint me.And I don't like telling people who are going to read the story about the plot.I will tell you that this was a very interesting story and not a plot you see all the time. Very good and a must read!

    19. This was a nice, quick read. The characters were semi-developed, though of course, much of the plot was fairly predictable.I liked that the conflicts had lots of gray areas, but then everything resolved as if it were black and white, which was annoying.

    20. Pretty typical romance paperback read. Nothing too deep or unique, but it makes for a good mindless read. I did find some of the situations a little laughable, but I let it go since it is the nature of this beast.

    21. 27 pages in and the female lead has been talked over, ignored, and overtaken in every conversation. And has to be the the nag while the men discuss fun secret man stuff that includes her young son. I'll find another romance for my assignment, I won't be finishing this.

    22. This is not a book I would have normally picked up at it has all the markings of a romance novel but I am glad I picked this book up. The story was fast-paced, heartwarming, and heart-wrenching all at the same time. A very good way to pass a raining afternoon!

    23. It was hard to get into at first. I was surprised by the ending. As for the relationships. I knew from the beginning how it would work out for Alicia and Gabe.

    24. Good but a little rushed--not much character development. Also part of a series but there was no indication prior to reading, very annoying!
