    1. ARC received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Wow! What a fantastic read, I simply couldn't stop reading it! It kept my attention from start to finish and there was not one moment of boredom or annoyance, and that's saying something, right? Power Play is my first book by this author and despite not reading the previous story in this series, I still felt like I wasn't missing out on anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the first book in this series is fantastic and worth your tim [...]

    2. Ok so let me start by saying that there's nothing technically wrong with this book. Landon and Gabriella are a sweet couple. Brandon is SO the really nice guy you bring home to mama and despite the whole hockey thing he just seems like a regular dude. The whole book just felt so bland to me. Nothing really invited emotion, provoked thought or sparked much of anything. I just kind of went through the motions. The moment I enjoyed the most was innocuous: when Gabriella was surprised at the concert [...]

    3. ***Actually 2,75 "You get it!" stars***"Tragedy bringing two hearts together."(A little bit too dramatic, but i liked this quote)Hmm I honestly don't know from where to startThis book was the second book of the Pilots Hockey series and i have to say that i had similar problems with the first book, but unfortunately, this one was less better than Delayed PenaltyThe thing is that because of some nice reviews, i had the illusion that this book will work better for me But no, it didn't and i'm so da [...]

    4. Power Play is the second book in Sophia Henry's Pilots Hockey series. Each book can be considered a stand alone since each focuses on a different couple. That being said, this was my first book by Sophia Henry and I'm not sure I'll read anymore from her. This is going to be somewhat of a rant-y review (just FYI if I say some "spoilers")I don't think I've disliked a WHOLE book of characters as much in Power Play. I mean, usually there are one or two that I find uber annoying, but this was a WHOLE [...]

    5. This was a tough book to rate because there are things I really l liked about it but the things I didn't like ended up overwhelming the good stuff. I love the setting in post recession/current recession Detroit. I love the urban setting and the work in a multi generational family business. I like the fact the hero is in the minors instead of already a big Hockey star. The details of running a business are good. The hero and heroine actually work. They like each other and not some idea of each ot [...]

    6. I read the first Pilots Hockey novel, Delayed Penalty, when it first released last year. I gave it a 3.5 and knew I wanted to read the next book. While it had some continuity issues for me I still enjoyed the men of the Pilots Hockey team and wanted to know more. Power Play, the second book in the series, took me by surprise. I went into this book thinking it would be fairly similar to Delayed Penalty, and boy was I wrong. Not only is it a cute love story, but the story line flows perfectly and [...]

    7. I didn't enjoy this book very much. The book is very angsty and although some of the drama was addressed in the end, the issues felt a bit glossed over and not really resolved.Gaby is a sheltered 19 year old working in her family's business. Landon is a minor league hockey player that Gaby has know as a customer from her family's stores for her entire life. They fall into a relationship after a family emergency. While the relationship didn't feel forced exactly, it never really felt natural or v [...]

    8. 2.5 starsPower Play was an OK read. While the storyline kept me interested to keep reading, I failed to connect with both Gaby and Landon. This made it hard for me enjoy it as much as I hoped :(Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept for the advance copy.

    9. "Power Play" , four stars for this cute romance. I really liked the main characters Gabreilla and Landon and thought it wonderful that the author had the. Growing up with each other and crushing on one another , both unawares of each other's feeling all along.Landon gets his chance to reveal his interest I. Gabrielle when her father has a heart attack in the family stores Artisan 313. Landon steppes up,and takes control, calling for emergency services and even offering to cover at the store whil [...]

    10. After reading Power Play, I can definitely say that I am hooked on Sophia Henry's, Pilots Hockey series! I love how we get to read from the perspective of players and their loved ones, and experience the struggle and effort it takes to try and make it into the NHL. Like Alexandr (Delayed Penalty), Landon, is in the minor leagues, and has been frustrated as he is seeing his fellow teammates get called up to the NHL. Landon is such a likable guy! I love that he is so easy-going and kind. He is emb [...]

    11. 2.5Netgalley for an honest review.Gaby and Landon have known each other most of their lives. Gaby works at the family owned store and often sees Landon, minor league hockey player, there when he's shopping. Each has had a small infatuation with the other but never acted on it. One day when Landon is shopping at the store Gaby's Father suffers a heart attack while working and Landon steps in to support and help Gaby. The book opens with the above scene and takes off from there. Gaby while in coll [...]

    12. Minor league hockey player Landon Taylor has had a crush on Gabriella Bertucci since the day he met her. Gabriella has secretly been crushing on Landon, but she doesn't realize Landon is ready to make his move and Gabriella is the target. Gabriella works in her families produce business, she is often overlooked by all that she does though and as Landon becomes a bigger part in her life she begins to believe in her ideas more. Landon though is struggling with wanting to be called up and taking th [...]

    13. Power Play (Pilots Hockey #2) by Sophia Henry Sophia Henry scores another win with Power Play the second book in the Pilots Hockey Series.  AHL star defenseman for the Detroit Pilots, Landon Taylor, has had a crush on Gabriella since they were children.  After a near tragedy, he gains the confidence to pursue her.  However, there is a reason Gabriella Bertucci is skittish around boys, she won’t let him in easily. I really enjoyed Power Play.  I love that the two main characters have known [...]

    14. This is the second book in the Pilots hockey novel series and while I liked this book better then the first I still had some issues liking and understanding the characters. Landon and Gabriella have had crushes on each other for most their lives until Gabriella's father has a heart attack and Landon is there to help out. Landon finally tells Gabriella how he feels and they start dating. Gabriella was raped 3 years ago and hasn't gotten over it. So when Landon finds out he wants to take things sl [...]

    15. **I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review**Having enjoyed Sophia Henry's debut novel, DELAYED PENALTY, I was excited to read the second book in the series, POWER PLAY. Gabriella Bertucci spends her days working for the family produce business, putting all her effort into seeing that their new location succeeds. It doesn't hurt that her longtime crush, AHL hockey player and NHL hopeful Landon Taylor, regularly comes into the store. But when her father has a [...]

    16. DNF - really couldn't connect with the main character. Sensitive subject matter within the plot dealt with in a way I couldn't quite grasp.Mysoginistic undertones throughtout as part of the plot. It does getr resolved HOWEVER it was entirely annoying/frustrating for the most part.Such a shame as I adores Landon.

    17. I got to 30% before I stopped because I just couldn't connect with either Landon or Gaby. I know this is NA but they just seemed so immature. There was a lot of back and forth and having the same cover station over and over. I skipped ahead a bit and it was just more of the same. I did enjoy book 1 so maybe it was just that these characters weren't my type.

    19. I'm counting this book for the 2015 Popsugar reading challenge under cateogry: book set in my hometown. It actually isn't set in my hometown, but nothing is, and nothing ever will be, as far as I'm aware. Most books set in Michigan are set in fake towns, so props to this one for being set in an actual Michigan city (Detroit). The hockey aspects of this seem to be more or less correct (more than less, I suppose, although I admit I don't know as much about minor league hockey as major. And while I [...]

    20. This is such a tough one for me to review. I re-read the first book, Delayed Penalty, and found I liked it A LOT better than I did the first time. Although this one didn't work for me, I am anxious to read the next story about Landon's adopted brother, Jason (who is not in this book at all). Unfortunately with Gaby and Landon, I never really clicked with their characters. This was much more of a new adult (age 18-20s) book than the first. I understand the theme of the story about selfishness and [...]

    21. Gabriella Bertucci and Landon Taylor have know one another for years from school and from Gaby's family store where Landon shops. Gaby has always had a crush on Landon and never did anything about it.you see Gabriella was raped at the age of 16 by a family friend and since that happened she changed everything about herself. She no longer goes to parties or even interacts with men outside of her family store. Then one day while Landon is shopping in her store Gaby's father has a heart attack and [...]

    22. DNF at 20% Chapter 6 I loved the first book in this series so I was eager to snag this one. Minor league hockey player, Italian store clerk, know each other since childhood, family, and romance so of course I was ready to dig right in.This is book two, but it can standalone.Gabby works for her dad and helps run the family store in Detroit's Eastern Market. She is waiting for him to notice how good she is at managing the store. But he never does. Her Italian family is boisterous and close in ways [...]

    23. 3 Star ReviewThis was an okay read I just really wanted to see more Hockey… for a “sports” read it had very little “sports.” Gabi’s family owns a market that she’s been working in since she was a young child. Every week Landon Taylor and his family came by and Gabi looked forward to these times because of the crush she’s had on him for years. Gabi is very standoffish and unwilling to get in a relationship thinking that Landon is nothing more than a dumb jock. When tragedy strikes [...]

    24. Love this series from Sophia Henry -Gabi Bertucci has known Landon Taylor since they were little kids. His family always visiting her family's produce stand in downtown Detroit every Saturday. She's kinda been stalking the gorgeous hockey player - knowing all his stats and making sure to say hi to him when he stops by for his weekly family outing through the market. When Gabi's father has a heart attack just as Landon is leaving one Saturday - it propels Gabi and Landon into talking about more th [...]

    25. This is the second book in the Pilots series. Gabriella Bertucci works at her family’s stores and mainly at a new that they opened. She sees Landon Taylor when he comes in when he is in town and he makes a point to stop by. He is there on the one day when her father has a heart attack and is rushed away to the hospital. During this time worrying about her father she is noticing that Landon is spending more time around her. He also knows things about her that she did not think he knew. Then one [...]

    26. Good story but I think if the reader had both POVs it might have been a great story. The sport aspect was also a bit lacking so that was a little disappointing but since this is a romance novel, you can't really fault the book on that lol Because romance it had, in spades. And it was soooo sweet! Gaby and Landon have had eyes for each other for years, but they were both afraid to move on that attraction so they kept quiet. Until they couldn't any more . And when the opportunity arises for Landon [...]

    27. I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.I'll be honest. I hated Power Play which is so disappointing because I loved Delayed Penalty, the first book in the series. Power Play is contrived, misogynistic and our heroine Gaby is in dire need of a strong female role model. Her mother who should be guiding her appears in the story only to berate her or do her hair. The romance with minor league hockey play Landon didn't work for me because Landon felt too fake. And for [...]

    28. bookworm221.tumblrI’m loving this series!I really liked how the characters felt really real, the feelings that they had and the one that professed about their lives and hurts and aspirations felt real to me, it is strange to find in a book such honest characters, because sometimes honesty can make them a bit ugly or if you really take the time it can make them better. In this book both Landon and Gaby have issues that they would like to resolve and when the friendship/relationship starts it is [...]

    29. My first from this author and it was a pleasant read.Sophia Henry clearly knows her hockey and is very passionate about her hometown of Detroit and it shows. The love story of a quiet, obedient girl and the hockey idol she has adored since childhood is a sweet one. Both are smitten yet don't realize it until Landon steps up his game with the shy Gaby and attempts to make her his own.I enjoyed the banter between these two and Gaby's crazy Italian family. Landon's desire to show Gaby she is more t [...]
