    1. I can't say that I was ever much interested in Ty Cobb, but after seeing the Ron Shelton movie on his waning days I learned to detest him. If not for a positive review on this book I never would have given him a second chance. He may have been surly, pugnacious, and disliked, but he was not illiterate or lacking of insight. He neither lacks decorum. He'll praise the great players by name and he'll criticize other behaviors on the field without calling people out by name. This is the book of a ge [...]
